Welcome to the Open Food Network
We’re an international not-for-profit focused on creating the tools and resources needed to build food systems that are fair, local, and transparent.
Our open source ecommerce platform
Local food software for everyone
The Open Food Network platform is full-featured, online marketplace software for farmers, food producers, and community hubs that removes the barrier to entry in the marketplace found in commercial software.
This software is used by more than 2500 enterprises in 15+ different countries.

Our Mission
The Path to Better Food Systems

We want to build a world where fair, open food & farming networks (re)connect people and regenerate the earth.
We believe it’s possible to create a food system with social and ecological health at its core, and we work closely with stakeholders around the world to make it happen. In addition to our open source software platform, we also work to empower enterprises in the community food enterprise sector. This includes research, developing resources for community food enterprises and a global software commons that makes it easy for other organisations to replicate the work that we have done.
Our Work
How we’re building change, globally
OFN operates in x countries, which work separately and together on outreach projects, research, resource development, and community partnerships that support positive change in food and farming systems. These are some current and recent initiatives our global community has been working on.
We want to grow the market for regenerative agriculture. This custom-made directory lets Producers showcase their farming products and credentials, and B2B Buyers connect with trusted suppliers.

OFN is a lead partner in this collaborative initiative to develop an open standard for data exchange in food systems. The goal: to let farmers, marketplaces, and consumers easily and securely share information while upholding data sovereignty for small-scale producers.
